ABOUT

Body ko Theatre was formed in 2015 by a group of movement-professionals lead by Hadas Selbst. Material is created together as an ensemble to create a new theatrical language, unique physical theatre which we hope to bring to stage soon. Stay tuned.

Director

Hadas Sel​bst - Director

A physical theatre director & choreographer, a performer and a teacher, with training in theatre directing (BA, Tel Aviv University and Lecoq-based physical theatre (MFA, Naropa University and LISPA). Established Body & Motion Theatre, created to train performers, helping them develop their own theatrical language, and to bring physical theatre to artists from different disciplines and to amateurs. In 2015, established the new Cambridge-based physical theatre ensemble Body Ko Theatre. Directed, performed and worked as a movement specialist with different productions including Cabared (The Company, Bilbao 2010), Black Beauty (with PEEL Heritage, July 2012), Don’t Look at Me (2013-15, Hasimta Theatre, Tel-Aviv), Miss Catch (2013, Intima Dance & Tmuna Theatre, Tel Aviv) and The Second Sheppard’s Play (2015, a Film directed by Douglas Morse, Cambridgeshire).

Director

Natalia Thorn Coe - Performer

Dancer. Natalia trained at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance then joined Edge, the graduate performance group at the London Contemporary Dance School, performing works by Maresa von Stockert, Hofesh Shechter, Charles Linehan and Martin Lawrence. Upon finishing Edge, Natalia joined Maresa von Stockert's dance theatre company Tilted Productions, taking part in both site-specific and staged performances. She has also performed work by Luca Silvestrini, Stephanie Schober, Temitope Ajose Cutting, Philip Zarrilli, Sarah Fahie, Kate Flatt, Kim Brandstrup and performed in operas at the Royal Opera House and ENO. She has also performed and taught Argentine Tango.

Gabriale Dunn - Performer

Gabriela is a Mexican actress based in Cambridge with a particular fondness of chilli sweets. Beyond exotic confectionary, she also enjoys the process of group creation and during her career she has strived to join and remain in established theatre companies. She has worked on many projects in Mexico, Chile and in the UK, as an actress, director and producer. She has studied under the Theatre Practitioners Rafael Degar, the leading physical theatre practitioner in Mexico, and Abraham Oceransky, named by UNESCO as a Pillar of Mexican Theatre, but her artistic views have also been influenced by her training in Chile as a Humanistic Facilitator in Therapeutic Change. Inspired by sugary spice and her 4-year-old daughter, she pedals around Cambridge imagining theatrical scenes that translate human behaviour into an artistic language that is enjoyable for both artist and audience. She always wears a helmet.

Vaiva Vazgilevičiūtė - Performer

Upon starting her studies at Cambridge University, Vaiva joined university’s renowned Drama and Dance Societies and studied at Body and Motion Theatre which led her to pursue her acting ambitions and thrive as a versatile performer. She had also trained in voice and text at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, in Cambridge University and as a dancer in Lithonia. Some of her credits includes: A Midsummer Night’s Dream, London Assurance, London Tales, amongst other plays, physical theatre productions and dance performances.

Zoe Walker - Performer

Performer Zoe Walker has a BA in Performing Arts from London Metropolitan University. Since graduating she performed in different prodctions in the UK, Germany and Poland at Trumpeter in Merchant of Venice (Pascal Theatre Company, 2007); street theatre performer in Trashcatchers (LIFT, 2008); live artist Book of Blood (in collaboration with Ernst Fischer & Helen Spackman, 2008); physical theatre performer Bakkhai (Jackson’s Lane Theatre, 2008); actress, dancer, choreographer More than a Woman (Gdansk Shakespeare Festival, Poland 2008); contemporary dancer and choreographer Sprung (QDance 2013-15).

Lina Motsiou - Designer

Costume designer. She studied Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Lecce, Italy and Theatre Theory at the Aristotle University of Greece. Since 2002 she has worked with the major theatres of Greece, including the National Theatre of Athens. Recently, she has been involved in prominent projects in London, like the most recent Hamlet production at the Barbican. Lina's constant search to develop images that captivate the audience has resulted in notable prizes, such as receiving Best Costume Design at the most recent national and international short film festivals in Greece. Her work, and unique designs, have been seen in many feature and short films, and at International Film Festivals all over the world including the official short film festival of Cannes. Since 2014, she has been living and working in the UK.
